QR code access provides a frictionless way to share and manage access rights, by scanning a QR code with a unique weblink.
Based on cloud IoT technology, the connected devices can be shared with someone else and given them the rights of control during a specific time. Sharing this unique web link with guests, they can unlock the door by scanning the QR code at a scheduled time.
I led the product team of Skywatch between July 2018 and June 2020 and collaborated with a junior designer and the development team on the sharing access features.
With a deep understanding of space rental business from a series of field user interviews, our current CamLock users and other potential users reveal some valuable opportunity for space rental business. I took a top-down approach to define the overall experience structure that meets the user goal.
At Skywatch we provide the access control services for the flexible offices, where serve the office occupiers. Occupiers rent space by the hour to help them save money and time, and they are demanding greater flexibility, agility, and amenity from their temporary workspaces.
As the first phase in the physical user journey, the access service should provide the greatest amenity for the occupiers to reduce customer frustrations in front of the door. And no interface is easier to learn when compared to their mobile phone.
Our vision for temporary access was to be the most frictionless service for both occupiers and space owners.
We provide a web link, a passcode, and a QR code instead of offering an APP for temporary occupiers. Also, the space owners don't have to install any QR code scanner to verify access rights, only need to print out and place the QR code in front of the door.
